On our “Street of Harmony” walk yesterday that started at the Buddha Tooth Relic temple, Paul was really lucky that the bathing pool 🚿 was just set up and there is no one queuing at all.

His stay in Singapore coincides with Vesak Day – which is to celebrate the birth date of Prince Siddhartha also known as Gautama Shakyamuni Buddha.

Worshippers celebrate the Buddha’s birthday by bathing the image of baby Prince Siddhartha with ladles of perfumed water. This gesture symbolises the purification of one’s unwholesome deeds.

By the way, Paul is from US and he is not a worshipper of Buddhism, in fact he told me his father was a pastor.

Thank you for taking this opportunity to embrace and understand the significance behind the practices of our major religions in Singapore.

Have a great 👍 Vesek Day weekend to all!

卫塞节将要来领了- 根据习俗,这一天佛教寺院内都要举行“浴佛”活动,该活动的主旨是提醒人们时时要保有一颗清净心,观照自己的心是否清净。阿弥陀佛。
